UNITED STATES ARMY (RET)
"You've Never Lived, Til'
You've Almost Died!"
I was that which others did not want to
be. I went where others feared to go, and did what others
failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing,
and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness. . .
. . should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror; felt the
stinging cold of fear; and enjoyed the sweet taste of a mother's
love. I have cried, pained, and hoped. . . . .but most of
all, I have lived times others would say were best
forgotten. At least someday I will be able to say that I
was proud of what I was. . . . . . . . . . . . a soldier! |

Good Old Days in Basic Training
-Ft. Lewis, Washington-
I, SGM. Bass first met SSGT. John Coleman (right) in Viet Nam.
From that time forth, we remained the best of friends. He was
always like a father and brother to me,. . .more than a friend. He
was a Soldier's Soldier. He served with the 25th Tank Division in
Viet Nam. In 1997, he joined the ranks of other great Soldiers in
Heaven! John, I'll forever miss you and will always love
you. His beautiful wife, Rena Coleman still resides in California
and carries on his legacy.
